Paraffin Wax 5.0kg
ParaffinWax together with an equal part of Microcrystalibe Wax, is used to preserve wooden hive boxes. A hive that has been paraffin dipped is expected to last up to 20 years.
For increased safety, best used with an equal part of Microcrystaline Wax to lower the flashpoint of the molten wax.
A hot-wax dipped hive can be expected to 20 years and more by preventing the ingress of moisture which facilitates wood rot.

Woodware is submerged for 10 minutes in molten wax at temperature between 130degC and 165degC. This will allow the wax soak deep into the wood.
A 200L wax dipping tank would require about 150kg of wax.

Incidentally: Dry rot is the term given to brown rot decay caused by certain fungi that deteriorate timber in buildings and other wooden construction without an apparent source of moisture. The term Dry Rot is a misnomer because all wood decaying fungi require a minimum of about 20% moisture before decay begins.
