Most harvests pass through a honey bucket on the way to the jar: honey runs in from the extractor, settles, and sits sealed until you are ready to bottle or sell in bulk. Our honey storage buckets are food grade, and the 15L and 22L sizes close with tamper-proof snap-on lids. Size them by weight rather than volume, since a 10L bucket holds about 14kg of honey, 15L about 20kg and 22L about 30kg.
The real decision is plain or gated. If the honey is going into jars, a honey bucket with tap lets you fill straight from the base without lifting a full bucket. Gated models come with either an Australian Polygenic honey gate, the one we recommend, or a stainless steel gate, and spare honey gates are sold on their own. Plain honey buckets suit storage and bulk sales. For retail, the 5L honey pail comes in packs of 10, holds 5.5 to 6.5kg and wears a yellow tamper-proof lid.
Helpful extras include a lid with a 15cm hole to hold a filter bag from our honey filters and strainers, galvanised or plastic bucket rests, and a spatula for the last of the honey. Flow Hive owners will find 15L extraction buckets with draining tubes, and when bottling day comes, our honey jars and containers are ready to fill.
