Everything here helps you wire bee frames and ready them for fresh foundation, whether you are nailing up kits or bringing old timber frames back into service. Start with the frame: a groove cleaner, standard or heavy-duty stainless, scrapes old wax from the bottom bar groove so a new sheet slides in. Brass eyelets, in packs of 100, sit in the end bar holes and stop the wire cutting into the wood and going slack.
Our bee frame wire is 0.5mm, sold by the 500g in two metals. Galvanised steel is the cheaper option, and 500g covers roughly 180 to 200 full depth frames. Annealed 304 stainless costs more but stands up to acidic honey where galvanised can corrode, so it suits frames you will extract for many seasons. Loose wires can often be saved with a frame wire crimper, which tightens the strand in one pass.
To set wire into beeswax foundation, lay the frame over the matching embedding board (Ideal, Manley, WSP and full depth sizes) and run the brass embedder along each strand. Brass Eyelets are used in the small holes in wood frame end bars to prevent reinforcing wire from gouging the wood, resulting in slack frame wire.
