Food wraps and hand-poured candles both start from the same raw material, and our beeswax blocks are the base for each of them. The wax is pure 100% West Australian, with no exposure to pesticides, varroa or hive beetle. The 250g and 500g sizes suit a first batch at the kitchen bench, while the 2.5kg block makes sense once you are making in quantity or coating plastic foundation.
Food wrap recipes rarely use wax alone. Pine rosin, a cleaned resin from pines and other conifers, sold in 200g packs, is melted in to keep the coating flexible rather than stiff. Virgin organic jojoba oil in a 250mL bottle also suits wrap blends, soaps and natural cosmetics.
For candles, match the wick to the width of the finished candle. Our pure cotton square braid candle wicks are wound in 60m lengths across four ply sizes, trim themselves as they burn and suit beeswax, soy or palm wax; as a guide, #30 ply fits a candle around 3cm across and #40 around 4cm. Melt your beeswax blocks into shapes from our beeswax candle moulds, or set spare wax into wax bar moulds. The 1 litre isopropyl alcohol here is the preferred alcohol for a mite wash, and the Beewise Varroa Checker it fills sits with our varroa testing equipment.

Why Different Wick Size Is Important?
Wick size plays a key role in how well a candle burns. The correct wick allows the wax to melt evenly and supports a steady, controlled flame. If the wick is too thick, the candle may burn too hot and too fast, which can lead to a large flame and soot. If the wick is too small, the candle may tunnel and leave unused wax along the sides. Choosing the right wick ensures a cleaner burn and better candle performance.
IMPORTANT
*The GUIDE above is general in nature and may vary according to the type of wax (Beeswax, Paraffin, Soy, Coconut) as each behave differently. The burn characteristics will also vary with differing ambient temperatures and wax purities. Best solution is to trial your wick selection with your particular wax, and chosen candle diameter.
