Every Langstroth hive is a stack of timber boxes, and this page holds our beehive boxes and supers, cut from knot-free New Zealand pine and fitted with four hand grips. Whether you are putting a bee hive super on before the spring build-up or replacing a box that has gone soft at the corners, start by choosing 8-frame or 10-frame width, then one of four depths.
Those depths are easy to confuse, and they are not interchangeable. Full depth is the deepest and usually holds the brood nest. WSP is roughly three-quarter depth, Manley is a little shallower again, and Ideal is the shallowest of the four, which makes an Ideal honey box the lightest to lift off the hive when full. Each depth takes its own frame size, and width has to match what is already on the stand, since 8F and 10F bee supers won't sit flush on each other.
Our beehive boxes and supers come four ways: flat-pack bee box kits to glue and screw yourself, assembled bare timber ready for your own sealant, assembled and painted, or hot-wax dipped and painted wooden bee boxes for extra protection against damp and rot.
