Foundation gives your bees a straight, embossed starting point for comb, and deciding between beeswax and plastic foundation is the first choice when fitting out new frames. We carry pure beeswax sheets in full depth, WSP, Manley and Ideal sizes, plus Beemax heavy-duty plastic foundation for full-depth frames.
Beemax plastic foundation is a 215g black sheet made from virgin food-grade resin and free of BPA and phthalates. That weight matters, because light, floppy sheets can break free of the frame when spun in an extractor, and the black colour stays stable where yellow-dyed sheets can leach. For beekeepers extracting plenty of full-depth frames each season, rigid plastic foundation is the low-fuss option.
Pure beeswax foundation is what many beekeepers prefer the colony to build on, and the full-depth sheets run at roughly 15 per kilogram, sold singly or in a 30-sheet pack for larger fit-outs. The rule that matters most is size: each sheet of beehive foundation is cut for one frame depth, so match wax foundation to the frames you run. Manley sheets also suit Handy frames. Wax is usually embedded onto wired frames, so keep frame wire and brass eyelets on hand, and pick up matching timber and plastic beehive frames to fill. Unsure which size you need? Ask the team in Perth or Sydney.
