A honey gate is the drip-free valve that lets honey run from a bucket, trough or drum straight into the jar, then shuts off cleanly when the jar is full. Our 40mm polygenic and stainless steel gates use food-grade components with stainless bolts and a wing nut.
Most hobbyists fit a 40mm gate. The Australian-made polygenic model is built to seal well and last, the stainless steel honey gate has an all-steel body, and the heavy-duty nylon honey gate valve is a non-drip alternative that also works as a replacement on extractors. For a 200L steel drum, step up to the 50mm (2") Australian gate. What catches people out is the hole: each gate calls for a different hole saw, from 44mm for the imported polygenic gate to 46mm for stainless and 48mm for the Australian gate. Check the product page before you drill, and measure the existing hole if you're replacing a honey tap on a bucket you already own.
Spares keep an older gate sealing, including silicone O-rings, a stainless wing nut and outlet gaskets for Königin extractors and tanks. Fit your gate to one of our honey tanks and stands, run the harvest through honey filters and strainers first, then fill your honey jars and containers.
