Honey Pumps

Once a harvest outgrows buckets, a honey transfer pump moves the crop from sump to tank through a hose rather than by hand. Both pumps here are Königin general-purpose units with a 230V motor running at 900 RPM under semi-automatic control. They are designed for warm honey or sugar syrup, so the same honey pump can move feed at feeding time as well as the extracted crop.

The choice between them comes down mainly to fittings. The smaller pump has 35mm suction and delivery connections and a 750W motor, rated at 40 to 50 litres per minute. The larger steps up to 48mm connections and 1100W for 40 to 60 litres per minute. Match the connection size to the hoses and outlets already in your shed, and note that hoses are not included with either honey transfer pump. Keep the honey warm before you pump it, because cold, thick honey is slow going for any pump.
