A beehive frame holder gives you somewhere clean to park frames during an inspection, instead of leaning them against the hive or laying them on the ground. Our stainless steel frame rests attach to the side of the hive body and take up to three frames at a time, keeping the bees on those frames close to their colony and cutting down on stress and disturbance. Heavy-duty stainless frame grippers sit alongside them, letting you draw a frame out with one hand while the other stays on your hive tool.
Before ordering a frame rest, check which hive you run. There are two versions: one for timber hives and one specially designed for Apimaye insulated hives, so choose the beehive frame holder that matches your boxes, or one of each if your apiary mixes both. The timber model measures 47 x 18 x 7cm and weighs 0.3kg, small enough to live in your inspection kit. For a frame gripper, it comes down to feel: one model has wooden comfort handles, the other is all stainless steel.
Many beekeepers lift an outside frame first and hang it on the rest, which frees up space to ease the remaining frames apart without rolling bees. Keep one of our hive tools for prising frames loose nearby, and stock up on spare beehive frames for the boxes you are working.
